Sure thing, let’s dive into this!

So, Drag x Drive. Yeah, it’s coming out soon for this new Switch 2 thing. I mean, who saw that coming, right? Nobody talks about it and BAM! Wheelchairs and mouse controls playing basketball. Totally wild combo. Nintendo just threw a gameplay trailer at us, like, “Hey! Check this out!” — and okay, it’s kinda cool. Launches August 14. Woohoo!
Alright, so I’m watching this trailer, which is like 7 minutes long, and it’s all about how you play this game. Also, it’s said like Drag “and” Drive. Who knew? Anyway, they’re showing off these controls and some tricks. Oh, and there’s even stuff outside the arena. Didn’t expect that.
We were all chatting on the Pure Nintendo Podcast — just wondering what else is in there besides 3-on-3 matches. Guess what? There’s minigames! Adding some spicy variety, you know? You can play online, go through a training mode, or take on bots. So many options, seriously!
Here’s the deal from Nintendo:
You hop into online lobbies, mix it up with people from everywhere. As soon as 6 players hit the scene, the game kicks off! 12 folks can join at Public Parks. Got some friends? Host a private Friend Park! Do whatever you wanna do. There are two courts to pick from, up to 6 players per court. Plus, you can challenge each other to beat that park leaderboard. Fun stuff!
If you’re the offline type, solo mode against the AI is your jam. Choose your driver — Guard, Center, Forward, whatever suits your style. Find the right match for your vibe.
Oh, need a change of scenery? Jump off the court, tackle the Circuit Sprint, shooting contests, or Rebound Scramble. Heck, practice bunny hopping with jump rope — who’d have thought? Rack up in-game trophies, unlock customizable helmets, and change up your driver’s look. Colors, armor, numbers — you got it all!
So yeah, these features sound rad. What do you think? Could this be Nintendo’s sneaky big hit? Only time will unravel that mystery. Hit me up with what you think about the trailer.
And if you’re itching to get into it, there’s a Global Jam on August 9-10. Try the demo, shoot some hoops before the full launch:
– August 9, from 3 am to 7 am PT
– August 9, from 5 pm to 9 pm PT
– August 10, from 9 am to 1 pm PT
Please, let this game be as awesome as it sounds when it hits on August 14. Fingers crossed for a slam dunk!
