EA Officially Ends Development on Anthem

Oh man, so get this—EA, the big player in US publishing, they’re pulling the plug on Anthem. Yeah, I know, right? It’s happening next year. January 12th, 2026, to be exact. They dropped that bomb in a blog post, and it’s kind of odd—I mean, you can’t buy any new in-game stuff, but you can still spend whatever you’ve got. Feels like finding money in your old jeans or something. Maybe it’s just me.

And they gave this shoutout, like, “Hey, thanks for sticking with us,” which is kinda sweet, I guess. But here’s the kicker—no layoffs. At least, they’re saying so for now. Fingers crossed it stays that way, though who knows what time will tell, right? It’s like waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Anthem, man, BioWare and EA really put their bets on this live-service thing. Launched it in 2019, but it just sorta… fizzled? Yeah, that’s the word. Then came all the juicy behind-the-scenes drama—not the good kind, either.
