Minisforum recently lifted the curtain on its cutting-edge AMD Ryzen-powered lineup, unveiling a fresh lineup of MoTD and Mini PCs, all powered by the impressive Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" CPU.
Minisforum’s Exciting New Lineup: AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" in MoTD & Mini PC Offerings
During the "Japan IT Spring Week" event, Minisforum offered a sneak peek into its newest offerings featuring AMD Ryzen CPUs. The showcase included a mix of MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) motherboards, compact Mini PCs, and NAS systems.
Starting with the standout MoTD motherboard, the Minisforum "F1FGM" is built for the desktop enthusiast, featuring a mATX framework complete with thorough heat dissipation solutions across the board. It’s a fitting follow-up to the BD770i and BD790i series, bringing in the Fire Range "Ryzen 9000HX" CPUs.
One of the exciting elements of the MoTD is its ability to house the formidable AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU. This powerhouse boasts 16 cores and 32 processing threads, driven by the Zen 5 core architecture. With a boost clock reaching up to 5.4 GHz and 64 MB of L3 cache, it’s a beastly contender. By default, this chip runs at 55W, but on this motherboard, users can rev it up to 160W for a truly elevated experience.
Moreover, Minisforum offers other CPU options, including an "X3D" variant. A cooler sits atop a vapor chamber baseplate for thermal management, as these mobile CPUs lack an integrated heat spreader. The 13-phase VRM utilizes a 60A SPS power stage duet rail design for efficient power delivery.
As for the other technical specs, the motherboard supports four DDR5 DIMM slots with a standard UDIMM layout, allowing for memory capacities up to 256 GB and speeds pushing up to 8000 MT/s. The X870M chipset is mobile-optimized yet mimics the B850 series closely. It includes two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 and 4.0 x16) and three M.2 slots, with one supporting Gen5x4 speeds. Additionally, it features two SATA III ports, and the latest connectivity options, including USB4, 5GbE LAN, and Wi-Fi 7, alongside two BIOS DEBUG LEDs for troubleshooting.
In the Mini PC category, we have the MS-A2, which embraces the AMD Ryzen 9000HX "Fire Range" CPUs. Building on the MS-A1 series and its Ryzen 8000G CPUs, the MS-A2 integrates updated IO solutions, including three M.2 slots (with one functioning as U.2), a 10 GbE LAN via an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot for low-profile GPU accommodation.
In a shift from the MoTD, the Mini PC motherboard features two SO-DIMM slots, supporting up to 96 GB of RAM with speeds of 5200 MT/s. Connectivity options comprise 2 USB 3.2 Gen Type-C, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2, a single USB 2.0, dual 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and DisplayPort + HDMI outputs.
Rounding off their offerings is the Strix-powered "N5 PRO" NAS system, armed with the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU, delivering 12 cores, 24 threads, and a Radeon 890M iGPU. This NAS boasts five 3.5-inch bays that support RAID configurations and a toolless design for swift drive swaps. It can be upgraded with up to 48 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMMs and includes a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for video interfaces.
Each bay can accommodate up to 22 TB of HDD space, supplemented by three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots for faster storage. Port management includes both a 10 GbE and a 5 GbE Ethernet connection, along with three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports for extensive connectivity.
Minisforum plans to bring these state-of-the-art solutions to market soon. Keep an eye out for detailed updates.
