I’m going to take you on a bit of a ride here, so hang tight. Everafter Falls dropped nearly a year ago—time flies, seriously. Back then, we knew it was gonna change the scene. But wow, we had no clue how much. I’m Joseph Shockley, but folks around here call me Riv Otter. I handle the community stuff for Akupara Games. Let me take you back to when this whole wild ride started.
So, Everafter Falls—it’s our first crack at a farming sim. I know, I know, talk about jumping in the deep end. We got all sorts of feedback, from gripes to high-fives. To hear it all, I set up a channel on our Discord (those conversations—I could write a book). I lurked on Steam too, showing players we’re all ears. One-dev team, so yeah, hearing what players think? Super important.
We hit our first “whoa, didn’t see that coming” moment thanks to the completionist crew. They were on about how maddening it was to snag all the items and bugs for their journals. Honestly, didn’t think about that, but they struggled. Try, try, and try again—like those puzzle box things? Go figure, they needed a boost. Enter version 2.0: bam, two nifty items to ease the pain. The Golden Shroom Terrarium and the Epic Critter Terrarium. Fancy, right? Guess we did something right.
Ever drift into the decorating rabbit hole in a game? Yeah, our players did exactly that. People were all about decking their virtual farms, turning them into something straight out of Pinterest—or, I dunno, a magazine I’m too basic to read. Positive feedback pouring in, totally unexpected. So, guess what? We tossed in more bling. Players are lapping it up, like kids in a candy store. Or adults. I mean, who doesn’t love candy, right?
You won’t believe the requests we got from players—little things that make gaming life easier but don’t really rock the boat. Like, there was this achievement for crafting everything, but keeping track was a nightmare. Google Sheets everywhere! We finally gave them a blue star in the crafting menu. No more spreadsheets, hallelujah!
Honestly, the feedback loop wasn’t just useful. It was… I don’t know, cathartic? Yep, that’s the word. Seeing players engage and shape a game? It’s a designer’s dream. Everafter Falls 2.0 is out on Xbox now, and I’m just jazzed to have been part of this crazy journey. Check it out if you haven’t!
And there’s Everafter Falls itself. Imagine waking up to find out everything you knew was, like, one big digital dream. Mind-blowing, right? That’s your life in Everafter Falls—growing stuff, fishing, the works. You’ve got a pet that does anything, even teleport you around. No joke—weird, but kinda cool? It’s a quiet, quirky world, with nothing to worry about. Or so they say.
