Ever sit down with a game and just know it’s gonna be one for the history books? For me, and maybe for a lot of you out there, that game was Red Dead Redemption 2. So yeah, it came out in 2018 (feels like forever ago, right?), but it’s still got that magic touch. Arthur Morgan — the dude you play as — gives you this sneak peek into the Wild West’s sorta-kinda demise. Emotions run high and yet, man, the fun just bursts out.
Now, about those quirky little Easter eggs and spooky WTF moments scattered around in RDR2. Rockstar’s been all over paranormal vibes in their games, but Red Dead’s got some of the best. There was also that Strange Tales of the West thing in Red Dead Online with stories that seem fit for ghost tales around a campfire. Honestly, if Rockstar doesn’t dive into a full-on ghost game soon, they’re missing out big time.
Here’s a curveball — remember Undead Nightmare from RDR1? Zombies and cowboys, a mashup nobody knew they needed. It’s everything you didn’t know you were wishing for. But in RDR2? Not so much. That’s kinda a bummer because this game could totally pull it off again. Between cave-dwellers claiming devilhood, ghosts like La Llorona, vampires in the fancy parts of town, and yes, UFO sightings, there’s no shortage of spooky nuggets for a new horror chapter.
Also, even GTA’s been flirting with the paranormal — like Bigfoot sightings and alien encounters. You gotta wonder, why hasn’t Rockstar taken a full swing at horror? Seriously, they have the chops for it.
And oh, speaking of swinging and missing, there was a zombie game called “Z” back in the Rockstar pipeline at some point. It was supposed to be dark, happening on some gloomy Scottish island. But it got axed, and the team shifted gears to whip up GTA: San Andreas instead. Just imagine if “Z” made it. Guess the world wasn’t ready for all that eerie yet.
Fast forward to now — horror is in vogue, people dig the spooky-depressing stuff. Picture Rockstar doing a horror story with that cheeky humor twist they’re known for — could be a smash hit, right? Think Zombieland vibes or Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. You know, a spooky romp that’s still a good chuckle. Rockstar’s got some untapped gold here. Let’s see if they ever decide to mine it.
