I’m thrilled you’re finally getting to experience Ra Ra Boom. Seriously, it’s about time! Everyone at Gylee Games poured their hearts into this. It’s now up for grabs on Xbox Series X|S.
Now, Ra Ra’s not your typical side-scrolling beat ‘em up. Seriously, you gotta see these enemies. Let me ramble a bit about three of ’em—and there’s some quirky thinking behind these bad boys, I swear.
Okay, first off, we made a big call on adding lanes. This wasn’t just a random idea over coffee, but more like, “Hey, let’s shake things up!”
The Brute
So, picture this: your favorite roller coaster mashed into a monster, all thanks to our amusement park obsession. It’s this wild boss with train track lanes, right? The Brute jumps at you—a tough guy with a chomp move. Then, bam! It switches to a coaster and multiplies! Suddenly you’re dodging carts like you’re in some zany amusement park. We aimed for a multi-phase fight, and I think we nailed it.
Martin
Oh man, Martin was a latecomer to the party. We’re like, "What’s missing?" and thought, “A flying enemy, duh!” Except, yeah, it totally sucked at first because we couldn’t figure out where this dude was in space. Drove us nuts until we gave him holographic legs. Crazy, right? Now, this dorky robot toddler just toddles around, grounding him so players could actually, you know, hit him.
Bruce
Talk about a headache. Bruce was… well, a mess. Motion sickness central, not even kidding. Had to tweak the background for weeks just to stop my head from spinning. We took this mess to GDEX and PAX, and yeah, folks found it boring. Oops. Eugene came next—a quirky, anxious robot buddy. But exploding him to damage Bruce felt meh. We slowed the chase, added more fight stages, and finally, finally, it all clicked. Bruce got a battle worthy of hype.
