Anyway, so there’s this buzz—kind of like that feeling when you think you left the stove on—that Chrono Trigger’s getting a remake for its 30th birthday. Wild, right?

So picture this: you’re chilling at a comic con in Napoli, just soaking in all the geek vibes, and bam! Yuji Horii, the legend behind Dragon Quest, starts chatting on this panel. And out of nowhere, he’s all, “Hey, maybe there’s a Chrono Trigger remake.” Everyone gasps, and he does that classic move—hand over his mouth. The translator’s like, “You heard nothing.” Seriously. The crowd? Went bananas.

And get this, it’s not his first rodeo with slip-ups. Back in July 2015, he casually dropped news about bringing Dragon Quest VII and VIII to the West. The games were old news in Japan by then. And then he just tossed out there that Dragon Quest XI would hit the “NX”—which we all now know as the Switch. Whoops.

March 11 comes around, the big 3-0 for Chrono Trigger in Japan, and Square Enix is like, “Stay tuned, folks. More anniversary stuff coming.” But what stuff? No clue.
