Oh boy, here we go. So, Pokémon Company International (because they seem to love announcements, right?) just dropped the news that this super new expansion thingy called “Wisdom of Sea and Sky” is hitting Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket next week. Or wait, was it the week after? Nope, definitely next week.
Circle your calendars for Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Yeah, that’s right. On that day, we’ll dive back into the Johto region, which is a nostalgic trip for anyone who remembers Pokémon Gold and Silver. You know, with those starters like Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. And don’t even get me started on the legends, Lugia and Ho-Oh. What a throwback!
Here’s a thing though — and it’s kind of wild — this expansion’s gonna introduce Pokémon that do cool tricks without needing Energy. How that’ll shake up your deck-building game? Beats me. But it’s something fresh, at least.
Oh, and there’s this trading update drama too. Apparently, they’re revamping the Trade feature. So now, there’s this Wishlist thing. Personally, I think it’s kinda neat, letting you broadcast what cards you’re hunting for — like a Pokémon card Christmas list. Just a bit more digital and less about actual gifts.
And, get this, the whole trade tokens are being shown the door. Yup, they’re gone. Poof! Instead, there’s something called shinedust (which sounds like something from a cheap fantasy novel, but who am I to judge?). You’ll need it to trade, and you can earn it by doing missions or getting duplicates. No more swapping cards for tokens starting Wednesday. Confusing? A bit. Makes sense? Not entirely. But that’s the deal.

Anyway — wait, nope — before I forget, there was mention of a trailer for this expansion. But I got sidetracked and didn’t catch it. Might be worth a look if you’re into dramatic card video reveals.
