A varied selection of characters is crucial for the success of any hero shooter, and that’s precisely why Marvel Rivals is thriving. Right from its launch, the game featured a whopping 33 heroes and villains, drawn from the vast Marvel multiverse. Fans got to play as iconic figures from The Avengers, the X-Men, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, the roster is expanding with members of the Fantastic Four. Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman are already causing a stir, and soon, players will be able to add the Human Torch and The Thing to their team later in Season 1.
Interestingly, each new season of Marvel Rivals will introduce two fresh heroes: one when the season kicks off and another halfway through. With some clever detective work by fans uncovering leaks about future updates, we might have a sneak peek at characters lined up for the Marvel hero shooter over the next year or so.
Since the closed Beta went live last summer, dataminers have been busy uncovering what’s next for Marvel Rivals. Over 20 potential new heroes have been whispered about, many hinted at right within the game’s code. Some of these leaked heroes include:
– Ultron
– Blade
– Emma Frost
– Jean Grey
– Angela
– The Hood
– Captain Marvel
– Hit-Monkey
– Valkyrie
– M.O.D.O.K.
– Jia Jing
– Deadpool
– Colossus
– Cyclops
– Professor X
– Nightcrawler
– Gambit
– Rogue
– Jubilee
– Beast
– Locus
– Ghost Rider
– Paste Pot Pete/Trapster
Among these, Ultron seems almost certain to make an appearance, given that his abilities and some official art have been circulating for months. Likewise, Emma Frost’s skill set has been leaked, suggesting she might be ready to join the game soon.
Blade also appears to be on the horizon, especially as he already has a presence in the ongoing Eternal Night Falls event, making his importance known next to Dracula.
There’s speculation that the game’s developers, NetEase, might plant false information in the game to mislead leak spreaders. If true, some listed characters might only be there to trip up dataminers.
For some heroes, though, their addition seems almost inevitable due to sheer probability. With over ten X-Men characters rumored, it’s likely that some of them, particularly Cyclops, Jean Grey, Colossus, and Rogue, will make their entrance.
The rest of the potential new characters are less predictable. Household names like Captain Marvel and Deadpool would naturally excite fans, but lesser-known faces like Hit-Monkey and Paste Pot Pete/Trapster might not stir the same level of anticipation. Yet, lesser-known characters like Jeff the Land Shark have shot to stardom, proving that any hero—or villain—could surprise us and become a fan favorite.
