Man, it’s wild how just when you think you’ve got the latest gadget all figured out, BAM – they drop another one. Like, the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming in hot, literally like next week, and here I am just trying to keep up with all the drip-feed updates. So, there’s this thing on the Nintendo Today app or whatever, and they’re saying the new Switch is gonna have some cool stuff that makes the old Switch look like, well, your old flip phone. I remember those, do you? Anyway, they’re hyping up these N64 game features. Honestly, caught me thinking about those late nights with Mario Kart and my little brother throwing tantrums. Good times.
Right, first thing, get this, you can rewind. Like, you mess up that jump and splat, or maybe launch yourself off a cliff in Mario Kart 64—uh, guilty as charged, always. Now you can, uh, rewind and pretend that never happened. Wish I could rewind some of my middle school moments, but I digress.
And they’re also chucking in these CRT filters, which is like nerd-speak for ‘make your games look old-school’. I mean, I guess it’s for when you wanna pretend it’s ’98 again and, I dunno, Ocarina of Time looks all ‘vintage’ or something. Hey, whatever floats your nostalgia boat.
So, um, what’s next? Oh yeah, both the old Switch and this newbie will let you remap controls for N64 games. Feels like they’re saying, “Hey, we know you have memories, let’s mess ’em up a bit less.” Kinda sweet. So, if you want to mess around with your Joy-Cons or maybe that clunky N64 controller, you know, feel free.
Anyway – or wait, was I finished? Something about nostalgia. Whatever, it’s all kinda exciting in a way that makes you wanna eat cereal in your pajamas while the rain taps on the window. You know?
