Halfbrick Studios, along with Ian Fitz, the creative mind behind the original The Thrill of the Fight from 2016, have finally dropped the highly-anticipated sequel to the beloved boxing sim. It’s up for grabs right now in Early Access for Quest users.
This fresh installment, The Thrill of the Fight 2, is completely reimagined and geared up for action on a range of Quest headsets—be it the Quest 2, Quest 3, the upgraded Quest 3S, or even the high-end Quest Pro.
The standout feature in this sequel is the online PvP boxing mode, a much-awaited addition for fans who were accustomed to the PvE battles in the original. By launching in Early Access, players can now dive straight into multiplayer matches without any wait.
"This early release focuses solely on multiplayer modes," says Halfbrick Studios, offering fans eager for online competition a chance to get in the ring right away. They’re keeping us in the loop, too, with plans to roll out single-player content and enhance the multiplayer experience as development continues through 2025.
Fans can look forward to a slew of new features to keep the game fresh and exciting. Upcoming updates promise single-player options with competitive AI that’s smart and ever-changing, new training modes, and much more. Throughout the Early Access period, we’ll see continual improvements and content additions, all designed to deliver a deeply immersive boxing journey.
Right now, players can enjoy customizing their avatars and engaging in online PvP with skill-based matchmaking, along with true-to-life physics that aim to recapture that authentic boxing sensation the series is known for.
There’s also a cool spectator camera option. This lets your friends or family tune into your matches with a lively sports-broadcast vibe, all viewed through a connected PC.
