Man, okay, so guess what? Saber Interactive, you know, the folks who made that World War Z game back in 2019? Yeah, they’re diving into VR waters now. I mean, just imagine that iconic zombie swarm—yikes, right?—heading straight to your Quest and SteamVR headsets on August 12th. Mark your calendars, or don’t. Totally up to you.
Anyway—no, wait—yeah, anyway, this World War Z VR thing isn’t just a remake. Nope. It’s built from scratch for VR. Like, they took the intense vibes from the original game and said, “How do we make this crazier?” First-person this time, single-player only. Say goodbye to those third-person views. And get this: you’re tramping through New York, Tokyo, and Marseille.
But here’s where it gets wild—or wilder, at least. You could be fighting over 200 zombies simultaneously. Doesn’t that sound… exhausting? All those mechanics from World War Z are re-shifted for VR with, wait for it, seven playable characters. Seven! Plus, weapons, perks, and three different ways to punish yourself with difficulty settings. Sometimes I wonder why we enjoy being stressed by video games. But, hey, everyone’s got their thing.
Oh, and the zombies—definitely not the lumbering dimwits from some other games. These guys adapt to your gameplay. It’s like they’ve taken a class on being better zombies or something. Special infected enemies too, just to keep it spicy.
So, August 12th is the big day, but if you’re feeling impatient, you can pre-order it on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 or on Steam if you’re one of those PC VR folks. Only $20. There’s this ‘Golden Skin Pack’ thing for pre-ordering. Shiny weapon bonuses, because, of course.
And that’s pretty much the scoop. Feels like something I should add to my wish list. Or not. We’ll see.
