Kluge Interactive, known for the successful VR rhythm game Synth Riders, is gearing up to release its latest creation, FINAL FURY. This VR fighting game is set to arrive in early access next month for Quest and SteamVR headsets.
Scheduled for a May 8th launch on Quest 2 and higher, as well as on PC VR systems, Final Fury brings arcade-style 1v1 battles into the virtual realm. The game introduces a distinctive gesture-based gameplay system, blending classic fighting elements with VR’s immersive potential.
Developed with the expertise of nine-time EVO champion Justin Wong, the early access version integrates dynamic hand gestures and authentic room-scale movement. Players can immerse themselves in the roles of six unique fighters, each with distinct moves and environments. More characters and stages are planned for future updates.
“When Kluge Interactive approached me about FINAL FURY, I was intrigued by their idea of merging traditional fighting game mechanics with VR,” Wong remarked. “Having tested and advised on aspects like dashes, grabs, and character styles, I’m eager to see how players will interact with this game in Early Access.”
Upon its early access launch, Final Fury will feature:
- Become the Fighter! – Dive into a fully immersive VR combat experience with real punches, dodges, and blocks.
- Innovative VR Combat – Classic fighter mechanics are reimagined for a physically engaging gameplay.
- Expanding Roster – Start with six fighters, each boasting unique skills, arenas, and styles, with more on the way.
- Arcade Mode Unlocks – Challenge the AI to unlock new fighters, stages, and cosmetics.
- Online Multiplayer – Engage in cross-platform play with rollback netcode for seamless competitive action.
- Thrilling Soundtrack – Enjoy an original score from Zardonic, known for his work on SUPERHOT: MCD.
You can add Final Fury to your wishlist on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and above or on Steam for PC VR headsets. The game launches on May 8th, priced at $9.99.
