Virtuix has revealed an exciting new addition to their Omni One VR treadmill system—a thrilling tourism app that lets users virtually stroll through some of the world’s most renowned spots.
Debuting on March 6th, the app, aptly named TREKS, fuses captivating immersive video with real-world walking. This innovation allows users to wander through awe-inspiring locations such as the Grand Canyon, take a leisurely walk through New York’s Central Park, or explore the historic corridors of Riyadh’s Fort Masmak.
Crafted by Virtuix Studios, the company’s in-house development team, TREKS will be launched exclusively on the Omni One Game Store and is priced at $30. Upon its release, TREKS will feature four key destinations for users to experience:
- Grand Canyon: Embark on a journey along its enduring trails and marvel at the breathtaking cliffs of this natural wonder.
- Niagara Falls: Witness the sheer force of the water from both the American and Canadian perspectives.
- New York City: Meander through iconic sights such as the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia: Immerse yourself in the deep historical essence of Fort Masmak and admire the striking design of Al Rajhi Mosque.
The team at Virtuix Studios has plans to expand this virtual exploration with additional locations rolling out as downloadable content (DLC) in the months ahead. This new content will feature a blend of new landmarks, historic sites, and natural marvels. Impressively, the company notes that one hour of walking in TREKS can help burn approximately 500 calories.
"With TREKS, you aren’t simply viewing these destinations; you’re walking right through them," stated Jan Goetgeluk, CEO of Virtuix. "It’s a fantastic way to stay active while experiencing some of the world’s most remarkable places. In TREKS, fitness and adventure come together in an innovative fashion."
Priced at $3,495, the Omni One system package is quite comprehensive. It includes the namesake VR treadmill and a specially designed Pico 4 Enterprise headset. This headset allows users to engage with native apps through its internal processes or connect to a VR-ready PC either via cable or wirelessly.
Recently, it was also announced that the Omni One now supports over 55 engaging titles. Among these, notable entries like Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius, have caught the attention of users.
Additionally, the Omni One system is compatible with SteamVR games. Thanks to its Omni Connect PC Driver, users can customize bindings and tweak settings to tailor games for an immersive walking experience, even if they weren’t initially designed to support it.
