Last week certainly slipped through the cracks for us, and we saw a whopping increase of 19 releases in North America. Sneaking onto the scene was the sudden appearance of Ironfall Invasion, originally a 3DS title. John will be sharing his review soon, and we’re crossing our fingers there’s no major security glitch forcing it to get pulled. Also, a rare gem, the Fantastic Night Dreams Cotton, got an Archives release, adding to the eclectic mix.
With that bump, the week closed with 65 new releases in North America alone, pushing us past last year’s numbers and beyond the 2,500 mark. As we enter what’s infamously known at my workplace as the "Hell Months," it’s a bit disheartening. The only holiday I managed to have off in the past seven years was because I spent eleven days in the hospital. You can see why I’m already feeling quite irritated. But let’s press on, shall we?
This week’s main attraction in the gaming world comes from Hironobu Sakaguchi himself — yes, the mind behind Final Fantasy. His latest creation, Fantasian Neo Dimension, has finally left Apple Arcade and ventured onto consoles. Alongside it is Fitness Boxing 3, which Nintendo is overseeing outside of Japan. Console versions of the classic Roller Coaster Tycoon games have reportedly had their controls revamped from the mouse setup, so that’ll be interesting to see. And if you’ve caught glimpses of Diesel Legacy: The Brazen Age at various showcases, it’s finally here. Don’t forget AntonBlast is also making waves, though we’re still waiting on pricing for that one.
In lesser-known but equally intriguing news, EggConsole’s latest entry, Riglas, is a side-scrolling RPG drawing comparisons to the original Ys III. It seems player-friendly even if you’re not proficient in Japanese. Interestingly, it was first released in Japan by Random House, known for its mysterious surprises. Plus, a novel first for console gaming—a licensed MasterChef game has appeared. To put it in Gordon Ramsay’s terms, it resembles a chaotic "exotic tartare."
