Oh boy, where do I even start with this? So, you know, if you were to cook up a brand new point-and-click game… how would you make it stand out? Meredith Gran’s got a head full of ideas for her game “Perfect Tides: Station to Station.” Demoed it at PAX East 2025 (crazy scene there, by the way). Anyway, it’s all about how chit-chat and forming friendships can level you up in life. I’m all about that!
Right, so let me dive in. This game is like a sequel, yeah? To “Perfect Tides”. But don’t sweat it if you missed the first one. You jump in as Mara, an 18-year-old writer on this journey in the big city, figuring out adulthood. Good luck with that! Her phone’s like this magic notebook where city folk and places turn into convo topics. Sounds like RPG meets point-and-click in some sorta weird but cool way. Leveling up Mara via conversations? Wild.
Walking around the city’s mostly straightforward. Well, I got lost. Typical me though, no sense of direction. But fewer menus than usual – none of those “Look At” or “Talk To” tabs. Just dive into chats. And the choices! They change Mara’s story, which is neat. At some point, I was cracking my head trying to get into this party. No idea who the host was. Straight-up teenage awkwardness summed up!
This game hit me right in the feels, even with all the noise at the convention. Meredith Gran poured herself into it, you can tell. It’s like living a year-long teen drama, takes about 16 hours to play. Look out for it on Nintendo Switch and PC. Who knew gaming could feel so real?
