Valve’s doing this thing with Steam now—basically you can dig through games based on, like, accessibility stuff.
So, I stumbled on their blog post, which was kind of a wild ride (not really, but you get me), where they talk about giving gamers more nitty-gritty details on what’s what in terms of accessibility. You can actually tweak stuff like the game difficulty, fiddle with text size (because squinting is nobody’s friend), and even have menus that talk to you. Yup, talkative menus, who knew?
Anyway, they’ve put this info right on store pages. Handy, right? Valve’s all like, “We’re making it easier for players to track down games that won’t make playing a struggle.” They chatted with developers and people with disabilities to figure this out, which is pretty rad. Apparently, over 5,000 game devs have jumped on board to reveal their accessibility secrets, tweaking things as they go.
So now you get to trawl through the store and hit those filters for the stuff you need. It’s kinda like filtering your music playlist, but with extra steps and a lot more accessibility. Cool, huh?
