Hey there, ever stumbled into something so wild you just… can’t? Well, let me tell you about Wild Hearts S—or as I like to call it, “Why Are These Monsters So Huge?” Yeah, there’s a game where you’re catching these massive nature monsters—Kemono they’re called. You’re like, some hunter with mad skills, wandering through Azuma’s lands. And nope, they didn’t always want to squash you flat. What changed? Maybe you’ll figure it out. Maybe not.
Oh, and this gem? Hit PlayStation 5 in 2023 with a $69.99 tag—ouch, right? Anyway, fast forward, and now it’s chilling on a Nintendo Switch 2… at $49.99. Who doesn’t love a price cut? Marketing people—take notes.
You know how some games have those tools, like Monster Hunter? Here, you get Karakuri. Sounds fancy? You bet. Picture crates and gliders, but it’s not IKEA-simple. Mix stuff, make traps, shields—pretty neat for someone like me who can hardly assemble a sandwich sometimes.
And hey, no lone wolf stuff here. Grab a couple of pals—three max—jump online (if you’re cool with Nintendo’s subscription model). Hunt’s better with friends, preferably when they’re not crashing at your place and stealing your chips.
So about customizing your character—I laughed. You can tweak their nostrils or something. Love that option. Maybe some people get a kick out of spending hours picking eyebrow shapes. No judgment—alright maybe a smidge.
Once you actually start playing, it’s joystick gymnastics. Move here, swing there—my clumsy thumbs forget what buttons do halfway through a fight. There’s this Hunter Vision thing—feels a bit superhero-ish. Spot those threads you need, and like, craft.
And running! Hold R and dash—but if you’re me, you’re just flailing wildly. Oh, and pressing B? Yeah, you dodge, jump, and crouch. Multi-taskers, rejoice. Good news if you stumble on Kemono, crouching lets you got that sneaky-sneak attack in.
Health low? D-Pad to the rescue—drink that healing water. And please remember to eat. Yeah, even virtual food helps. Keep your stamina in check while scaling cliffs—or falling off them, if you’re like me.
Karakuri is like that surprise chili in your dish. Sometimes you need special inspiration to unlock it—like a creative brainwave or after slicing through a particularly nasty beast.
Graphics-wise, Switch 2 takes a bit of a hit, but what can you do? They tucked some content in, bumping it from 3 players to 4. And fancy outfits—Samurai, Ninja, anyone? Plus these fun emotes, like “Fighting Spirit.” Might try them before morning coffee sometime.
If you’re curious, you can check out a demo—to see if your thumbs are up for the challenge. Well, there it is, my wild ride in Wild Hearts. If this Nintendo Switch code wasn’t plopped on my lap by KOEI TECMO America, might’ve missed it.
Catch you on the flip side, if the Kemono don’t catch you first.
