Oh man, so here’s the deal. I stumbled across this wild announcement the other day—Meta, you know, the big VR guys now, are throwing a Deadpool VR game at us. Twisted Pixel, their VR game studio, is behind this chaos. Seriously, they’re cooking up an all-original Deadpool tale, and, get this, Neil Patrick Harris is bringing the sass as Deadpool himself. Couldn’t tell you why, but that just cracked me up.
Anyway, what’s the buzz? It’s Twisted Pixel’s first release since 2022 when Meta got their hands on them. Supposedly, it’s dropping later this year, but only if you’re rocking a Quest 3 or 3S. Exclusive much? Saw the trailer too, kind of made my brain melt in all the right ways.
So, what’s this game even about? Apparently, Deadpool’s off in Mojoworld—yeah, that’s a Marvel thing I guess—thinking he’ll hit the jackpot. Not sure why, but I totally picture him not reading the fine print and just diving in. He’s zooming around the Marvel universe, brawling with baddies, both famous and totally unknown. Real metaverse stuff—Marvel-style, not like the techy VR thing.
Twisted Pixel had this vision of Deadpool as the ultimate blend of parkour action and smashing things up. You’ve got this total creative freedom vibe—they say if you can think it up, you can probably do it. Like, who just thinks to punch someone while holding a grenade? But that’s a thing here. And using your severed arm as a weapon? Yep, they went there. The imagery of holding some bad guy’s face to a propeller—grim but oddly intriguing, I admit.
Oh, and there are all these bizarre enemies—demonic dogs, weird human-lizard-whatever-they-ares, and other creepy crawlies. It’s like they made a checklist of bizarre things to dismember for fun. I got my hands on an early version of this game, and wow, it’s a ride. They sure nailed that—well, I think they did. Or maybe I just got distracted by all the chaos. Anyway, check out my preview if you’re into that sort of madness.
