Alright, so here’s the deal. Borderlands 4 — yeah, you know, the looter shooter everybody’s been buzzing about. Gearbox finally spilled the beans on a feature everyone’s been whining for, like forever. But hold up, don’t get too excited just yet. It won’t be there when you first get your hands on the game come September 12.
What’s missing? Oh, just the Photo Mode. Yeah, that thing where you pause your game just to snap shots like a wannabe movie director. Add some fancy filters, mess with the depth, slap on some letterboxing — the whole shebang. It’s kind of become a must-have in games that look pretty fancy. Weird they didn’t include it out of the gate, right?
Anyway, so Graeme Timmins, big cheese over at Gearbox, came out on Tuesday, blabbing on social media about it. He was like, “Hey folks, we are totally adding Photo Mode, but not right away!” Why? Apparently, they got other stuff to polish — stuff that matters more when you’re actually blowing things up and looting stuff. Priorities, right? He kinda went on saying, “We planned for this, but gotta focus on making your experience awesome first.”
Flashback a bit — Borderlands 3 had this thing on PC from day one. Consoles got it a little later, but still. In Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, it was everywhere from the start. Thought we’d see the same? Yeah, me too. Why didn’t it happen? Well, maybe Unreal Engine 5 decided to play hard to get. Or maybe they just want you to enjoy all the shiny graphics before freezing the frame.
So… why does all this matter? Picture this: you, on a planet called Kairos — sounds fancy, right? Dictator named The Timekeeper ruling the roost. Anyway, Borderlands 4 drops with a lineup of new characters, so you’re probably gonna forget about any missing Photo Mode. For a while, at least.
Game’s launching for $69.99, unless you’re feeling fancy, in which case drop $99.99 for the Deluxe, or $129.99 if you basically want the kitchen sink. September 12, mark it — Xbox, PS5, Switch 2, whatever you play on, you’ll have it. Fingers crossed, that Photo Mode update won’t be fashionably late.
But really, who knows? Just hold tight.
