Alright, so here’s what happened, or at least what I think happened. Stainless Games, the crazy brains behind Carmageddon, just put Ben Gunstone in the driver’s seat as the new CEO. And, oh yeah, Patrick Buckland, the guy who pretty much started this whole shebang back in ’94, he’s stepping down. But not really stepping down, you know? Just sliding over a bit to the Executive Chairman spot.
Now, Gunstone’s not exactly new around here. He rolled in back in 2022 as a game director, then switched gears to operations director, and now, bam, he’s CEO. Before this, he must’ve been warming up at Dovetail Games or something. Anyway, he’s pumped about this whole thing. Said some nice stuff about Buckland’s legacy. I guess that’s the kind of thing you say.
And then you’ve got Buckland, who’s like, “Yeah, I’m getting older. 62 soon, but come on, I don’t look a day over 70, right?” Classic. He’s ready to chill a bit more, although not completely since he’s still all about games and holding the majority of the shares. That’s his jam. He’s letting Gunstone steer the day-to-day, which means he trusts the dude, and he’s cool with it. So, yeah, onwards and whatever comes next.
