Alright, this is gonna be a wild ride. Stick with me here.
So, I stumbled upon something the other day that totally has me thinking—Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is getting dinosaurs. Yeah, you heard right. Dinosaurs! Like, the kind that went extinct a bazillion years ago… I mean, I knew this sim was capable of some crazy stuff, but this takes the cake. It’s called Jurassic World: Archipelago—set to drop around the end of August or maybe in September. Not 100% sure why those months, but there it is.
Oh, and you won’t believe it—something about this just struck me as odd. I bet it was seeing an airplane soar over a Brachiosaurus or whatever dino they’re adding. I suppose it’s just this whole prehistoric vibe clashing with modernity that’s unexpectedly appealing. Or maybe I’m just a sucker for chaos. Who knows?
And there are pictures. Yep, loads of them. Not that you can see them here, but still, they exist! Orbx Studios, those Aussie folks who make add-ons for these super-realistic games, are the brains behind this. They’ve partnered up with Universal Products & Experiences. Sounds fancy, right? Anyway, these islands—how many are there? Five, I think—come with six airstrips, twelve helipads, and a bunch of dinosaurs. Don’t even ask me to name them. All I remember is the Velociraptor and Tyrannosaurus rex—most of the rest sound like medical conditions.
The scenery, by the way—Costa Rica’s Juan Santamaria Airport and something called Herradura Bay Marina are apparently getting all gussied up. Kind of wild the things people get excited about these days. Also, they might even bring similar stuff to older versions and another sim called X-Plane 12. But that’s future talk—so who knows when that’ll drop!
I’ve got this theory—might be wild though. What if they’re trying to snag those Jurassic World fans who are tired of the same old stuff? Mix things up a bit, you know? I mean, crossovers tend to shake things up in the gaming world. Adds some sparkle! Could do wonders for the player count, perhaps? Or maybe it’s all hype. Just my two cents, probably worth less than that.
Anyway—hang on, there’s more. Jurassic World Evolution 3 is another thing. Slated for October 21. It’s one of those management sims—like you’re in charge of your own dino-park. On different platforms too. And oh! Rumors say Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 might head over to PS5. I mean, imagine that!
In any case, the whole thing just makes me chuckle. Dinosaurs and flight simulators. Who would’ve thought, right? Life’s full of surprises, I guess.
